I just want to share one experience with the most wonderful light weaver in my life - my sweetheart.
Last Friday, as I came out of work, I had a lot on my mind. I'm in a new job with a lot of responsibilities and at times it feels totally overwhelming. Friday was one of those times. As I walked toward my car, I felt a bit distressed, and discouraged. However, all of that changed because of one simple act of kindness.
When getting close to where I'd parked, I looked up and noticed a bunch of little construction hearts placed all over my windshield, my hood, and my side window. Close up I could see messages such as, "Eternally Yours, Your Sweetheart Forever, My Best Friend, I love you, and many others. My heart was lifted. A smile spread across my face. Joy and gratitude filled my soul. My stomach even had a chance to soar when I discovered a Ghirardelli dark chocolate candy square (one of my favorites) taped to my door handle.
My wife didn't have to do it. She was tired on Friday. Neither of us slept well the night before. She had a slew of errands to run. Yet, she took the time to cut out all of the hearts, write the messages, and then come and tape them on my vehicle. In doing so, she weaved yet another strand of light into my life, to go with the thousands she's already put in our marital tapestry! How grateful I am for her and for everyone who weaves light into my life each day.
I'm determined to be a light weaver - looking for opportunities every day to do something kind for someone else. It doesn't have to be large or elaborate. Often times a smile and a kind word will do. What ever it is, I know it will help someone, and as sure as the sun rises in the east, what we send out always returns four fold.
What will you do today? Will you be a light weaver?
